Shoya Izakaya is tucked away in corner of Super H-Mart by 285 making it hard to find if you’re not a local. Shoya is one of the legitimate Japanese restaurant you can find here in Doraville. Once you walk through the double doors, you’re greeted with a warm cozy atmosphere with a large selection of sake displayed in the glass case. If you want the full experience, sit by the sushi bar where the conversation with the chefs are hilarious and watch them prepare your food with extreme craftsmanship.
What we ordered from the kushiyaki menu was the scallop wrapped in bacon. The crispy bacon has the right amount of char while the soft scallops soaks up all the fat making it a perfect guilty pleasure.
Chicken skins is inarguably the best part of fried chicken. These are fried for maximum crunch and lightly seasoned with sea salt.
I ended up getting the assorted sushi deluxe as my main entree and even though it’s a bit pricey, the quality of the fish makes up for it. The sushi is incredibly fresh and has the perfect amount of fish to rice ratio so you won’t feel chipped by the end of night.
