When people think of ramen noodles, they automatically think of their college days eating cheap instant ramens that will keep their stomach full for the night. Those days are long gone once Umaido opened up shop a couple years ago offering authentic Japanese ramen. It’s located on Lawrenceville Suwanee Road in a building next to H-Mart. From handmade noodles to mind blowing euphoric broth, Umaido will definitely change the way you experience ramen.
Every time I come here, I always ordered the originial tonkosu ramen. It’s that freaking good. The out of the world complex broth dances happily on my taste bud made me shed a tear when I tried it out for the first time. The indescribable delicious broth is hard to determine the main components of it but I’m pretty sure it’s made out of rainbows and sunshine. When you bite into the egg, you’ll be surprised that it’s an soft boiled egg that makes the broth even richer. The sliced pork is tender and very flavorful. The only down side of it is that its only 3 thinly slice pork but that could be remedied with a couple bucks for 3 more thinly slice pork. Umm. No thanks. If you run out of noodles, you can get a refill of it for a dollar. Yes please!
Instead of using that heartwarming delicious pork broth in tonkosu, it’s a miso based broth. It’s light and delicious but nothing compare to my tonkosu.
The kitchen is located right in front of the restaurant with seating booths to let people see how their food are being prepared before they down it. You can also see them hand make their noodles.
